I got Gidget on Dec. 27, 2009 from the Char-Meck animal shelter. Her estimated age was 3 but we never really knew. It didn’t matter. Her spunkiness was apparent from the first time I saw her and was confirmed by the staff. As a Fox Terrier/Dachschund she loved to run, jump, hunt, play…anything that involved activity. She chased squirrels incessantly (even caught a few; she trotted around the yard with her prize). She loved the dog park and loved to travel in the car. If you were going, she wanted to go and see whatever you saw. She could hike through the mountains until you got tired. More than one friend called her Miss Personality because she was just so damned happy and springy and spunky all the time. Despite that liveliness she could do tricks for treats (play dead, roll over, stand up, etc.) and even learned to play a bit a fetch with me…although she’d lose interest after 5 or 10 minutes. She brightened everyone’s lives that she touched, especially mine. I don’t know what her life was like before me, but I know what it was like afterward. She lived a long, healthy, full life of many experiences and I am a better person for being able to be with her for 12 1/2 years. She will be terribly missed.
